Statler Hotel Conference Rooms Renovation

Welliver was contracted to renovate the Statler Hotel’s existing Conference Rooms and Conference Corridor, which had become outdated and worn from years of continuous use. The client sought a refreshed, modern, and highly functional meeting environment to better support their conference and event operations.

The original conference spaces suffered from aging finishes, including damaged flooring, deteriorated millwork, and worn doors. The outdated aesthetic no longer aligned with the client’s expectations for a premium meeting facility. Welliver was hired to completely update the appearance, layout, and functionality of the space while ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding hotel and academic areas.

The renovation required full demolition of the existing conference rooms down to the structure, leaving only select walls and ceilings in place. Several meeting rooms were reconfigured and slightly enlarged, and portions of the corridor received increased ceiling heights to create a more open and inviting flow.

The renovated space features:

  • Custom carpet installed throughout
  • Walnut-veneered millwork providing a warm, high-end finish
  • Luxury aluminum storefront systems, sourced internationally
  • A built-in stone serving counter and stone backsplash in the Conference Foyer for event refreshments
  • Custom lighting integrated throughout the space
  • A new concealed-grid ceiling system within the meeting rooms

These upgrades created a modern, cohesive, and upscale conference environment within the Statler Hotel.

Construction Challenges & Solutions

The renovation occurred in a heavily trafficked corridor connecting Statler Hall and the hotel lobby, requiring Welliver to close both entrances and install temporary partitions to maintain safety and limit public access. Additional challenges stemmed from long lead times and international sourcing: custom aluminum storefronts from Italy impacted scheduling, and owner-furnished carpet from China incurred unexpected fees and tariffs. Due to the many custom, non‑replaceable materials, Welliver carefully sequenced the work to protect newly installed finishes and keep the project on track.

Client Benefits

The completed renovation delivers a modern, refreshed conference environment that enhances the overall guest experience. With updated finishes and an improved layout, the client now has a more attractive and functional meeting space that supports increased event rentals and business growth.
