Welliver was the Construction Manager for the new Mansfield Medical Office Building, owned by Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital/Susquehanna Health. This stand-alone, 21,000 square-foot brick veneer facility houses offices for new healthcare services including:
• Physical/aquatic therapy complete with a PT pool and indoor throwing area
• Radiology
• Mammography
• Ultrasound
• Diabetes Education
• Behavioral Health
Due to changes in the construction schedule, together with threatening weather conditions, our integrated project team faced several challenges around meeting deadlines relative to the building’s roofing. Being creative problem solvers, our team reviewed and delivered recommendations for alternative roofing systems that could accommodate cold weather installation.
The revised plan was changed from an Ethylene Propylene Diane Terpolymer (EPDM) system made up of synthetic rubber mainly derived from gas and oil derivatives, to a fleece-backed Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) system, which is thinner and easier to install in cold weather. Because of this innovative thinking, Welliver kept the project on track and delivered the project as scheduled.
