Welliver provided Construction Management services for the modernization of this 47-bed facility. The hospital offers the greater Lock Haven community inpatient and outpatient care including emergency, medical, and surgical care.
Our team renovated the interior of an aging facility, built between 1908 and 1924, modernized in 1924, and again many times since. We assisted with design development, pre-construction services, estimating, bid package development, schedule development, and overall management of each phase. We collaborated with the owner’s rep to ensure the project conformed with UPMC Susquehanna’s standard CM project format.
The modernization involved the renovation of approximately 812 SF of endoscopy prep, decontamination, sterile and procedure upgrades including relocation of existing sterilizer, temporary office manager relocation, new restroom, new sinks, sterilizing equipment, and finish upgrades. Work also included finish upgrades to approximately 2,087 SF of existing operating rooms and sterile spaces, approximately 659 SF of Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) unit upgrades, as well as upgrades of operating room suite support spaces such as locker rooms and restrooms. In addition, Welliver was proactive in surveying all existing conditions to recommend and assist with design and management of construction all while coordinating with the facility to minimize disruption.
Our team brings significant knowledge of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Class IV regulations and experience constructing in active surgery space while ensuring it remains fully functional with no down time. Work was performed during off hours with cleanup at the end of each shift in order to turn the new updated space over all while limiting the interruption to their day to day services. Daily coordination with the users and facility was critical to our success.
